A previous post explored the island of Caye Caulker from sunrise to sunset. (here)
Belize, however, is far more than just coastline and islands in the Caribbean Sea. This week's post explores a sample of what's to be found on the mainland.

The top of Antelope Falls in the Bocawina National Rainforest outside Dangriga in the Stanns Creek District. It's worth hiking up the 1.1 mile incline and then running from the panthers on the way down.

The Aguada - our home away from home in Cayo. Until recently, it was owned and operated by our friends the Butchers.

Santa Elena in Cayo District.

The water hole at the Aguada (which is Spanish for "a watering place").

This curious little fellow visited us on the trails in the Bocawina rain forest.

You'll find Sak-Tunich on Cristo Rey Road near the Maya village of San Antonio. "Sak Tunich" is a Yucatec Maya word for "white rock."

The market at San Jose Succotz sits along the bank of the Mopan River at the entrance to the Mopan River ferry. The Mayan ruins and temple at Xunantunich are up the hill on the other side of the river.
Thanks for stopping by.
