I have been remiss in updating this blog since publishing the last of the R.L. Boyce stories.

In this post, I will start playing catch-up with the first of what I am calling the "Minglewood Series."

Our son, Cory, is the General Manager of Minglewood Hall - a concert and event venue located in the heart of midtown Memphis. Over the years, he has done everthing there from serving as front of house sound engineer to production manager.

From time to time the son asks (other times he allows) his dad to take photos of the acts. August 12, 2023, was one of those nights. Texas blues guitar virtuoso Jimmie Vaughan (of Fabulous Thunderbirds fame and whose brother, Stevie, could play pretty well, too) brought his Tilt-A-Whirl Band to town.

It was the usual arrangment - photos from the pit in front of the stage during the first two songs. About mid-way through the set, Jimmie's manager told me the penultimate number would be the T-Birds classic, "The Crawl," during which Jimmie would play behind his neck, and I could go back in the pit during the song and get some shots if I wanted. Yes, Sir; and Thank You!
