I have been remiss in updating this blog since publishing the last of the R.L. Boyce stories.

In this post, I will start playing catch-up with the first of what I am calling the "Minglewood Series."

Minglewood Hall is a concert venue located in the heart of midtown Memphis. From time to time I am fortunate enough to be alowed to take photos at the shows.

August 12, 2023, was one of those nights. Texas blues guitar virtuoso Jimmie Vaughan (of Fabulous Thunderbirds fame and whose brother, Stevie, could play pretty well, too) brought his Tilt-A-Whirl Band to town.

It was the usual arrangment - photos from the pit in front of the stage during the first two songs. Afterwards, I settled in to enjoy the rest of the set as a member of the audience. About mid-way through the set, Jimmie's manager let me know the penultimate number would be the T-Birds classic, "The Crawl," during which Jimmie would play behind his neck. He said I could go back in the pit during the song and get some shots if I wanted. Yes, Sir; and Thank You!
