They hang and dangle like medals of honor to our wounded pride --

the embodiment of unfulfilled hope, forever entangled and suspended within the suffocating bramble that inevitably grows up and along side our dreams.

Casts casually gone astray due to inattention and lack of effort or intentionally placed too close to danger while searching for fame and fortune.

These are lost lures and bobbers of Moon Lake, Mississippi.

Each has a story to tell:

An afternoon with grandpa (perhaps junior learned a new word or two).

A weekend getaway.

A shiny new tackle box.

A daughter’s first fishing trip with her dad.

A six-pack of PBR after midnight (and a return to shore that may or may not have been both dry and upright).

Each tells the story of a moment in a life lived.

And to those who pay attention, a story of living life in the moment.
