During the summer of 2019, I made two quick trips to Hawaii for business. These trips may have been my last travels before the Great Lockdown of 2020. During the second trip, I set the alarm and woke at 3 a.m. one morning. This is what downtown Honolulu looks like at 3 a.m.

The reason for the early start? - drive across the island to Kailua Beach Park on the eastern shore and photograph the sun rising over the Pacific Ocean. I arrived in time and was not disappointed.

The inland view:

After watching the sunrise, I drove up the Kamehameha Highway - mountains to the left of me, ocean to right (here I am ...). Along the way, I stopped at Kualoa Beach Park:

the tide pools at Shark's Cove in Pupukea:

the north shore, and then Lā'ie Point:

before turning south and back to Waikiki:

Long flights for relatively short stays did not appeal to Mrs. L, so she elected not to participate. But I did not want her to feel left out, so I brought her T-Shirts.

Thanks for stopping by,
Steve
